I was chased by a sociopath

I'm on a role of ticking people off this weekend.

First it was one kid (a post to come on a later date) and then this afternoon about an hour ago. I just stopped shaking.

I'm coming home from Target and I have my brother and his friend in the car. My brother's friend is like another brother, he lives down the street from us and has for forever so he's always over. That said, he doens't think. Ever. And he does the STUPIDEST things.

We're in the car and we're almost to my house. I'm driving and some jerk cuts in front of me and slows down. I don't do anything but I'm like What the Heck lady? I don't say anything, I don't do any flipping of the bird- nothing. She slows down majorly and brother's friend reaches over and Honks my friken horn. Oh SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHT.

The woman (in her purple box van) STOPs her car in the middle of the road (There are cars around us mind you) and turns around in her seat and starts flipping me off and cursing at me. I just sit there and mouth sorry and point to the kid. She sits in the middle of the road and beckons for me to go around her. I was all, absolutely not because I knew that she would try and hit me or something. Or she could have had a knife or a gun and I wasn't going to chance that. She doesn't move out of the road and by this time I'm terrified.

I was next to the entrance to a shopping center so I turned into it and floored it. She also turned into it. I had the chance to go a back way so I did and prayed that she wasn't going to beat me to it. I have never driven so fast in my life. I flew over a speedbump at like 50 mph. Thankfully no cars were coming so I just kept going and turned into my neighborhood, which is thankfully gated. I kept looking in my review mirror and I was pretty sure that I lost her.

My question though is, WHY? I'm SURE this woman was on drugs or something and was just down right crazy, but really. what is the point of STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD? Why would you want me to go around you so that you could SIDE swipe me? What would be the point in that, idiot. I understand she got ticked off, but REALLY, should you even be driving if you have that kind of emotional problems? What if I had younger kids in the car?

This isn't the first time something like this has happened. When I was younger and just learning to drive, I accidentally cut someone off on I-95. He was in a Range Rover (a really nice one too) and he sped in front of me and kept stopping and slowing so that I would hit him. Thankfully I knew what he was doing and I never did. Plus my dad was with me and I wasn't as scared, but it was still pretty terrifying. Seriously what is up with all the crazy drivers?!

Now is your turn. Feel free to share your craziest/scariest driving related story with me!

PS - Thank you all so much for your kind words and prayers. The hand of God is truly with me today and I feel better already. I will need the most strength for Tuesday when I have to make these decisions, so please keep the prayers coming. I am so thankful for you all and if any of you ever need anything I would be more than happy to do it.

I've dealt with psychopath's like that before. When I was married to my ex-husband, we lived on a large piece of property with several homes where some of his other family members lived. It was out in the country, so it was very secluded. Anyhow, when my ex-husband was driving home from work, he accidentally cut off a guy in a big semi-truck (without the trailer) who was speeding. The guy in the truck went nuts and started trying to run him off the road. My ex floored it to get away from the guy, but he followed him home. Not only did he follow him home, but he followed him down the 1/4 mile driveway onto the property. I have no idea why, but when my "lovely" ex got out of the car, he ran to his parents house instead of ours. So, the next thing you know, I've got some crazy trucker parked in front of my house, with his bright lights shining at me, yelling some craziness about getting my ex to come out there. Did I mention that I am home alone with a NEWBORN baby while this psycho is yelling at me? I called 911, but because we were in such a rural area, there were only two deputies on duty in our area at the time (and one of them was my ex's cousin!) By the time he finally showed up, the crazy trucker had finally given up and left the property. You could say I was a bit scared when that happened.

People are scary!

I teach an anger management to teenagers, and we talk about this. I don't flip people off or do anything that might be seen as threatening when I am driving because you never know what the other person will do.

I'm glad you're OK!

Wow I'm so sorry that happened to you!
Something similar to that happened to me and my mom a few years ago. We still get nervous going to that shopping center to this day.

Road rage is a serious problem in this country. I don't understand why people get SO mad! I was with my Dad once (passenger) and my dad needed to merge and this woman would NOT let him, but our lane had ended, so he basically just cut her off so he wouldnt run into the guard rail. Well she got all crazy pyscho, pulled up next to us (on my side of course) started screaming and yelling, and of course (my dad is a little hot headed too) my dad rolls down the window and starts yelling back! All of a sudden she swerves her car towards ours! It was so scary, I was screaming, thank goodness my Dad was quick and he swerved and she missed us, but it was freaking crazy. My Dad should NOT have started yelling, but the woman was psycho before that...(also on I-95) needless to say I didn't ride with my Dad for a while!

Oh Kelsey! What's going on?!?
I'm so nervous about Tuesday now.
Prayers are headed your way.
Now, about insane people/drivers. You did the right thing. If at all possible, never put yourself into a position where someone else has the upper hand.
I'm so glad you got out of there!

Oh my word! That is so freaky!

Now I know why I only drive when I absolutely have to! There are tons of crazies out there.

I have really bad road rage. I know one day I will probably get shot.

I cut people off all the time and honk my horn at least three times a day. haha! I usually just smile and wave when I do and that usually shocks the other driver.

The more you drive, the more you'll realize that these kind of things happen. Not as an excuse, just keep your eyes open, and when it's over, laugh about it if necessary.

I once saw a guy in a truck get mad at an little elderly couple. He pulled up beside them, rolled down at the window, and started batting at the woman who was in the passenger seat. He almost hit an old lady because her husband (I assume) dared to be in his way (the truck guy was the one to cut the elderly couple off). I couldn't believe it.
